Fellowship, this intimate relationship with God and with others, is a very important concept and reality of salvation. However, we cannot claim to have fellowship with God when we walk in darkness, when we are self-deceived into claiming to be without sin (1 John 1). The centrality of our identity as sinner becomes clear when we calibrate ourselves to the Truth, to Jesus. This is the great invitation of the gospel, that we come out to the Light, where there is truth and genuine fellowship.
