When she said that, tithe jumped into my head. The Bible says to give 10% of EVERYTHING, not just our money. Now, before I had let that slide because I figured, "I’m not a farmer. I have no first born to give, no first grains to give, or anything like that." Well, what about our time? How come no one tithes our time? Whether it be minutes out of the day, weeks out of the year, months out of the year, etc. There are 24 hours in a day=1440 minutes. Would it be so hard to give 144 minutes to God every day?

What about working 6 and resting on the 7th? That is not just days of the week. In the Old Testament, it talks about how they would plow the fields and work for 6 years. On the 7th, they did no such work and dedicated the whole year to God (or something similar to that). Now, in modern terms, that would give the fields a chance to restock nutrients, which isn’t a bad idea. Anyway, why don’t we dedicate our "7ths"? Science says that the human body physically changes every 7 years–new cells have been formed throughout the whole body. Some people blame changes in tastes of food or style, and sometimes even personality, on this change. Is it significant that it happens every 7 years? I don’t know much about numbers, but I do know that 7 is the number of completeness, of spiritual perfection. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am 21 (the 3rd "7" in my life), and there are many changes that I can see and feel within me. Anyway, why don’t we dedicate every 7 weeks, every 7 years, every 7 months? What is taking it too far, and what may we have missed by not doing this?

I know that personally since I had these thoughts, I feel more hungry than before. I feel like it will be a lot easier for me to spend my daily time with God knowing these things. It will be easier for me to rest one day of the week. ….And I’m very excited about this…
