I just wanted to follow up my previous review of The Dark Knight. This was a movie I saw twice in the theaters and I now have on DVD. This movie could be my all-time favorite movie. Batman Begins is one of my favorites all-time, and I am shocked at how much better this sequel is. I want to see it again.
You need to listen to your friends, family, co-workers, the dude sitting next to you on the bus, Christian Bale, whoever you may run into. If someone tells you to see this movie, there is a reason behind it. It’s a great story. There’s plenty of action. And one other thing I like about the Christopher Nolan version of Batman, it’s realistic. Sure this type of thing wouldn’t happen, but it’s very realistic. All characters play their parts well. Heath Ledger’s Joker is amazing, Christian Bale is solid, Aaron Eckhart is a guy you can believe in. Gary Oldman is perfect as James Gordon. Maggie Gyllenhaal is a more believable attorney than Katie Holmes. And when a movie has Michael Caine AND Morgan Freeman, you can’t go wrong. Buy this DVD.
As for the special features on the 2-disc Special Edition, they are good. I know some critics are disappointed that there isn’t a tribute of any kind to Heath Ledger. I say, watch the feature on the music for the movie. The whole feature talks about how they had to find the right sound for this character that Heath Ledger created. It is interesting how they came up with the “Joker sound.” It’s worth the money to buy this one. The digital copy feature is pretty cool as well. It will put the movie right on your computer. The scenes shot in IMax feature is also pretty neat.
My rating stands: 10/10 corns
