Heartbreaking.

How often we find ourselves on the wrong sides of social justice issues. As long as it does not concern me or thee, we tend to turn our heads and not notice how someone else’s life is being ravaged so that our children might enjoy a monetarily worthless piece of plastic in a kid’s meal. In terms of value though, it is worth a lot–in terms of a little life that worked slaved to produce it in the most adverse of conditions, conditions that would not even invade our worst nightmares.

My children have grown attached to “Littlest Pet Shop” toys. It really frets me buying them for them because when you turn the little things over, inscribed on the underbelly is a simple word; “China.” It means that little toy that brings so much joy to my little girl probably cost a little Chinese girl thirteen hours of labor, a bowl of broth for a daily meal, and dormitory-type sleeping arrangements, head to toe with another child caught in the same circumstance.

According to this report, however, the plot becomes more sickening. Chinese sweatshops also make crucifixes for sale in mega-church gift shops and Christian retail stores.

Crucifixes are being made at the Junxingye Factory in Dongguan, China, by mostly young women—several just 15 and 16 years old—forced to work routine 14 to 15 ½-hour shifts, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 or 11:30 p.m., seven days a week. There are also frequent 17 to 18 hour shifts ending at 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. and even monthly all-night 22 ½ to 25-hour shifts before shipments must leave for the U.S. All overtime is mandatory, and anyone missing even a single overtime shift will be docked a full day’s wages. It is common for the workers to be at the factory at least 100 hours a week. Workers are paid just 26 ½ cents an hour, which is half of China’s legal minimum wage (already set at a below-subsistence level) of 55 cents an hour. After fees deducted for room and board, the workers take-home wage can drop to just nine cents an hour. Workers are housed in primitive dorm rooms sleeping on narrow double-level metal bunk beds that line the walls. There is no other furniture, and the rooms reek of perspiration. The walls are filthy, smudged with black, while spider webs cling to the ceiling. The bathrooms are so damp and dirty that moss grows on the floor. Workers describe the soup they are fed as water with a few vegetable leaves and drops of oil floating at the top. Anyone missing a day due to sickness will, as punishment, be docked two-and-a-half day’s wages. Workers fear that they may be handling toxic chemicals, but they are not told the names of the chemicals and paints, let alone their potential health hazards.

The National Labor Committee traced the crucifixes made and discovered they were being sold for between $27.99 to $29.99; over a 1,000% mark-up! The report records The Singer Company that markets the crucifixes, part of the Association for Christian Retail, made $4.63 BILLION last year. The irony is it was done on the backs of children; 21st century indentured servants.

It has been over ten years since it was uncovered that Kathie Lee Gifford’s clothing line was manufactured under deplorable sweatshop conditions overseas. Yet this is even more abominable; Christian trinkets made in a country where religious expression is forbidden, upon the backs of the least of these, marked up at over 1,000%. And for what?

There is a bitter irony contained therein; defenseless workers, depending on those pennies a day to survive, have no future, no hope, no voice, nowhere at all to turn, to produce religious goods. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Please.

GE-Dating.com is one of the most established Christian dating websites out there. They have nearly 30 years of experience in helping likeminded Christians find true love. Like most Christian dating websites, they pride themselves in keeping a high quality membership database. In fact, their member screening process is one of the most dedicated processes we’ve seen so far. They screen your vital information, making sure that your identity is 100% real, and they even meet you face to face. They also ensure that the photographs posted on your profile are current, so as not to mislead other members as to how you really look.

GE-Dating stands for Great Expectations. You can access the website by entering www.ge-dating.com or www.great-expectations.com into your website browser. If you want to join their member database, you can start by creating a dating profile. You fill out a basic form which includes your vital statistics as well as your personal interests and what you’re looking for in a date. You can also upload pictures and answer 2 essay questions about who you are and what kind of person you want to meet.

Another great feature is that when you search the member database, the first profiles that show up are those that are most compatible to yours. You can even search for people who are geographically nearer to you. Since the website focuses on membership quality, you won’t find any of the annoying and offensive memberships you will generally find on most online dating websites.

They have a free trial version that allows you to have the same search capabilities as a paid member. However, you may not easily communicate with paid members – they should be the ones to contact you first. The paid membership is definitely worth it if you can find several people who live close by.

One day left in November and the airwaves are filled with advertisements for the Christmas season. No doubt you have already heard “holidays” way overused. Here at the Christian Conservative, we believe that (with maybe a few exceptions) the use of “holidays” without mentioning Christmas is bowing down to the Political Correctness Police (From now on called the PCP). With good reason. The PCP would slaughter anyone who stands up for traditional values. Keep in mind that saying “Happy Holidays” is not wrong. It only becomes wrong if it is used in a way that implies The Most Wonderful Time of The Year as being a purely secular reason for being snobbish.

Now in light of the Gestapo tactics the PCP employs, few companies and organizations dare to use any reference not only to Christmas but other religious holidays including Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. Listed here are the brave select that include a reference to the Christian side of this season. Note: Every so often, as other commercials air, we will expand this list.

Radio Shack: Uses “Hark the Harold, Angels Sing” and even includes the line “God and sinners reconciled”. Very brave of them. Keep this in mind if you plan on buying electronics.

Wal-Mart: You may be playing the Russian Roulette with this one. While in the past, Wal-Mart has been against traditionalists, (ex. supporting the homosexual lifestyle, importing almost all of its merchandise from China) it was a big surprise when they used the “C” word in their commercials. While this makes them a possible likely candidate for Christmas shopping, be very careful…

Fox News: A no-brainer. Great channel. While it has a tiny right spin, the news is as fair as you can get. And to top it off they say Christmas.

Almost all car companies: An estimated 31% of all television commercials are car commercials. This gets especially annoying when Christmas rolls around. Not a single car commercial (yet) uses anything other than “holidays”. It’s all about buying a shiny new car for yourself. “Give yourself a gift”

Almost all toy companies: are basically owned by China, the biggest dictatorship in the world (Russia is a close second, though unofficially). Talk about anti-religion. Avoid anything from China. Your kids would probably get lead poisoning from Chinese toys. So what toys can you buy? “Buy America. Buy America. Buy America.” And also buy anyone who uses “Christmas”. They need all the help they can get when fighting the legal battles over their rebellion.

Macy’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Kay Jewelers: All these and most other department stores are using secular terms, so avoid buying form them. Any exceptions will be noted and honored on this site.

Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace: It’s tough but these are in on it too. Here’s a suggestion. Instead of going to these places, visit any local hardware store. Note: Tractor Supply hasn’t put out any major Christmas commercials. Last year they aired a commercial where the farmer’s wives tricked their husbands into going to TS to buy supplies for the , but forgot to mention they had signed them up to participate. Not only was it funny but obviously a show of support for a traditional Christmas. Hopefully they will continue this trend.

This list is far from finished. As this month progresses, be sure to check back for updates.
